Broken Friendship

When I was in middle school I lots of friends but there was this one person who I was the closest to.  His name was Jalen we did everything and went everywhere together. Jalen and I were the best of friends and nothing could tear us apart at least that's what I thought. But one day there was a rumor going around and people were telling me that Jalen was talking about me and my family. I didn't live in the best house and my mom wasn't the best but she was still my loving and caring mom. So since people were saying that and I also thought it was true that day at school I didn't talk to Jalen. The next day in school I didn't talk to him again so I went a week without talking to him. Weeks turned to months, and months turned to years. Time went bye and I was a senior in high school about to graduate. At my graduation party Jalen came after not talking to him in years he came up and we started talking asking how each other been and stuff. Then he asked why did I stop talking to him and I told him why. So he told me that all rumors I heard he didn't say another kid said it so Jalen beat him up for saying but some how the story got twisted and everyone thought he said it. I was in shock and didn't know what to say, I was speechless. I thought about what to say I apologized and told him I don't know why I believed them crazy rumors.  After all that I lost a close friend to a silly rumor but now me and Jalen are back friends we also talk everyday.
