The most important thing to understand about a piece of scholarly writing is its argument. It is important to develop predatory reading strategies in college because it helps you learn to identify the important parts of the scholarly material you are reading. By engaging it in a kind of conversation and by asking questions of it.  In chapter 4 Hjortshoj says the 5 categories of writing process which are prewriting, composing, revising, editing and release. Prewriting is choosing a topic and plan it out, and talk about it. Composing new sentences and passages, either on paper or the computer, with the idea that these sentences might, at least, appear in the finished product. Revising is rereading to make sure you paper makes since and that it is good. Editing is fixing your paper so far as capitalization, usage, punctuation, and spelling. Last is releasing it by making a final copy and make sure it's neat.
