3 Goddesses
The first goddess is Maiden which is portrayed by a new waxing moon.She is characterized as a a person who shows new beginnings, youth, development, and pleasure Maiden is also a person who wants you to purse your passions, imagination and spirituality. Lettie is just like that goddess because of the way she shows all of these features in the novel.
The second goddess is the Crone portrayed by the fading waning moon. They are distinguished by wisdom fulfillment and ends. Old Mrs. Hemstock illustrates this well the way Lettie and Ginnie look up to her as a person they knew had experience in the novel. She also taught them her tricks and everything. She reveals the endings knowing that Lettie will inevitably die but she also knows
that she would would be back.

The final goddess is the mother which the full moon represents. They are described as someone who shows love vitality and nourishment. Ginnie shows all these attributes in the novel as in caring for her family. Especially when Lettie was taken by the ocean is when she showed how much she loved Lettie and how real she was.
